Moxy Sydney Airport, Australia

Image
Beautiful view of downtown Sydney from the window on the 12th floor where we were staying. This was a super cool hotel right from check-in till checkout.  There was a free shuttle from the Sydney airport and it arrived one minute after we got to the pickup spot which never happens.  The shuttle was clean and large and the drivers were very professional.   Check in was literally at the Bar that is their check-in area and I thought that was very unique and original.  You get a poker chip each and that is your coupon for a free drink. However, that free drink only included one type of cocktail that was kind of a sweet concoction that I nor my husband would have drank.  The bartender just gave me a glass of Rose instead, which I thought was a good compromise.  The check-in person was very professional, very good at his job and I received my free hotel room upgrade due to my membership.  It wasn't much of an upgrade but it did enlarge the room slightly...

The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel - Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

Image
The Tasman has the tiniest brown square for signage and it is easy to drive by.  This is an absolutely lovely hotel that has a Heritage wing and a new wing. The Heritage wing is built and constructed into the old Hospital built in the 1800's. It has the lovely old sandstone walls and many of the original glass door construction of the original hospital wings and all built by Convict labor. You can see the old glass hospital door behind my luggage. It has a very unassuming front to the hotel. In fact The Tasman has such small writing that I missed it but my Eagle Eye husband saw the sign.  A valet came out to us right away because we had parked in the area of the hotel zone which is Murray Street and then we knew for sure that we were at the right hotel.  When we checked in I did not have a bathtub in my hotel room which is one of my requests always as a Titanium Elite member.  They let me know they could get us in the next day into a bathtub room.  We checked i...

Hobart, Tazmania

A Tasmanian Devil, little holy terrors. Tasmania is gorgeous. When I was flying in I was looking out the window at thick forest and green after green, tons of coastline and rugged mountains.  The first night we got in we checked into our hotel The Tasman which is a Luxury Collection Hotel under the Marriott portfolio.  We then drove to the wharf and had our first supper in Tasmania at Mures Lower Deck.  I had some delicious seafood chowder with some bread on the side and they gave me free of charge a whole bottle of sparkling water.  Darren had fish and chips and it was a good meal and one of the cheaper meals in Hobart but by no means cheap.   Our hotel was close to the wharf and Mures Lower Deck Restaurant was right on the water. Historic buildings of Salamanca  down by the docks These are all historic buildings on the water in Hobart. A fishing boat right outside the doors of the restaurant. The docks and wharf area of Hobart are extremely pretty wi...
