The Tasman, A Luxury Collection Hotel - Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

The Tasman has the tiniest brown square for signage and it is easy to drive by.

This is an absolutely lovely hotel that has a Heritage wing and a new wing. The Heritage wing is built and constructed into the old Hospital built in the 1800's.

It has the lovely old sandstone walls and many of the original glass door construction of the original hospital wings and all built by Convict labor.
You can see the old glass hospital door behind my luggage.

It has a very unassuming front to the hotel. In fact The Tasman has such small writing that I missed it but my Eagle Eye husband saw the sign.  A valet came out to us right away because we had parked in the area of the hotel zone which is Murray Street and then we knew for sure that we were at the right hotel.  When we checked in I did not have a bathtub in my hotel room which is one of my requests always as a Titanium Elite member.  They let me know they could get us in the next day into a bathtub room.  We checked into room 256 and it was lovely in the Heritage wing 20-ft ceilings, original old wall, large bathroom, large room, very pretty and I've never had a sheepskin rug on my bed before, only in Tasmania.

A real sheepskin rug for your bed.

Original old sandstone outside wall incorporated into the Heritage Wing Rooms

The next day we left and drove South and they moved us to room 161 with a bathtub and a original fireplace but it is no longer in working condition.  We actually had one of the old glass doors of the hospital in our hotel room.
Old original fireplace.

The bathroom was lovely and marbled up with a glass enclosed toilet. A gorgeous comfortable tub. You had to walk up two stairs to get to the bathroom. Plus there was a long hallway on the way out done up in wood flooring and a very pretty painting at the end of the wall.
The Hallway was quite long with a beautiful sandstone wall and nice painting.

A full length mirror in the hallway.

Steps up to the bathroom with a sliding wood door.

Nice soaking tub with a wooden slider to place wine glass or soap etc.

The main part of the room had a desk and a marble table with chairs. The cute little original fireplace area and a coffee area built into the cupboard.

The first room had a much bigger coffee area.

One of my main complaints for this hotel room is it is dark on one side of the room where my suitcase was which a bench and a drawer was supplied so I could lay out my luggage. I could not really see very well. Also it was very dark in the coffee area. I could not see what I was doing making the coffee in the morning even with all the lights on. So I had to direct the reading light over to the coffee area so that I could see.
Another thing that could have elevated my experience was some bath salts or a bath bomb that would be complementary with the bathtub. I've experienced that in other luxury hotel chains and that was a bit of a disappointment.
We appreciated the electronic buttons that closed the blinds and the drapes. That was a nice touch. It was a very luxurious room. Even the toilet paper was done up in a beautiful satin bag.

Everything from the sheepskin rug to the beautiful brand of espresso coffee maker to the gorgeous wine glasses that were in the room. Everything screams luxury at The Tasman.
The house coats of the Tasman were absolutely luxurious and gorgeous. My favorite housecoat yet out of any luxury hotel. Their towels were not super thick but a really nice pattern on them and I loved the sliding wood top along the top of the bathtub to place your wine glass on.

The decor was very calming and pretty and well done.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and we're good at their job.
The restaurant complimentary buffet for elite members was delicious. I enjoyed that every morning and the staff in there were phenomenal.
My Dirty Chai every morning came with a different design each day.

Peppina Restaurant

The surrounding area was lovely and all withing walking distance or so many different things to see from the wharf to the museum to great shopping and restaurants.
Our second room afforded us an ocean view when we walked out into the hallway.

Historic Salamanca district.

The beautiful old buildings of the wharf area.
Be aware that there is really no place to park around the hotel so you do feel compelled to use the Valet Parking at 45 Aussie per day.
I would definitely return to The Tasman, we really enjoyed our stay and the location is great.
