Villa del Palmar Flamingos Nuevo Vallarta

We enjoyed our stay at the Villa del Palmar Flamingos which is a small resort on the Pacific Ocean in Nayarit or Nuevo Vallarta.  There is a very long, wide beach to walk on.  It is very safe and you can walk for hours.

The second day that we were there, I went to get up off the lounge chair and Darren yelled at me not to step down.  There were two baby turtles that had made their way to the sand surface.  They looked close to death and most likely had been sitting out in the hot sun all day.  Darren very gingerly began to dig out the turtle's brothers and sisters and we counted 91 baby turtles.  Staff was alerted and they brought a pail, we released them at dusk which significantly increases their chance of survival from birds of prey etc.  We have released baby turtles before on the Caribbean side of Mexico but this was our first time discovering a turtle nest.  It caused quite a stir and most of the people on the beach that day made their way over to Darren digging out the hatchlings.

We hate timeshare spiels, we have done too many in our lifetime.  But we did do the timeshare spiel over at the Villa del Palmer Flamingos and although we were pressured I was allowed to bargain with him because we clearly did not want to do it.  Diego gave us some deals that we could not refuse such as 200 USD which ended up being less than that, they give you a funked-up exchange on the peso. I bargained for a free taxi ride from the airport for the three kids to join us at the Villa del Palmer Flamingos and a free taxi ride to Vidanta for our second week in Mexico, for the five of us. Diego also included two massages which you have to pay approximately 15 US for gratuities and you get to use the hydrotherapy spa area before the massage.  The 3 kids decided to join me and we had an absolutely excellent massage very professionally done probably the best one I've ever had in Mexico at the Villa Del Palmar Flamingos. Diego also threw in 30 drink tickets with the timeshare spiel and when the three kids came we used them all up.  That was 300 dollars worth of drinks and I enjoyed them immensely.

At the Villa del Palmar Flamingos there is a little grocery store which we did not buy a thing at, because around the corner is an Oxxo for grocery items that are less than half the price. Oxxo had eggs, fruit, bread, drinks and snacks.  It's not a full grocery store, just the basics to get you by.

At Villa Del Palmar Flamingos there is a safe walking pathway to the quaint town of Bucerias, that takes about 15 minutes. We did this walk several times and then you have access to a lot more restaurants and shops. You can also walk along the beach to Bucerias and back from The Villa del Palmer Flamingos if you wish.  We did both.  There is a huge flea market and Fat Boys Restaurant is located in the flea market. We ate at Fat Boys twice and the margaritas and the food were quite good, a little bit pricey but cheaper than Villa del Palmar restaurants.  We did some shopping and my husband bought a leather fanny pack, which are all the rage again.  We use to rock them in the 90s.  He also bought a welded scrap metal volleyball sculpture.  I do not have any more room in my suitcase but I could have easily bought some clothes etc.  Our son's two friends did well and even got into the bargaining game with the locals and did quite well.

At the Villa del Palmer Flamingos we ate at the oceanfront restaurant and it was pricey and neither my husband nor I really were impressed with the meal.  I had fish ceviche, which was very bland, and my husband's meal was also very boring. The margarita was good but with that pricey, bland experience, we chose not to eat at any of the restaurants after that.  The food looked great but it just needed more flavour.

Villa del Palmer Flamingos is a lovely Resort though. We had a second-floor unit with a nice ocean and pool view.  The balconies are very large the rooms are quite large but it's starting to show its age at 18 years old. The kitchen was very Mexican with the tiled and grouted countertop which always grosses me out. We didn't do much cooking there really weren't many kitchen items to make a meal. The primary bedroom and bathroom were large with a big bathtub and shower and a separate toilet area.  The bed was extremely comfortable, one of the best that I have ever slept on.

Wifi was excellent at Villa del Palmar Flamingos.  When the kids joined us we had 12 devices enabled at once.  This was probably the best wifi in any timeshare we have ever experienced.  This helps when you are trying to run a business online like my hubby is.
Please see the link below if you wish to check out this resort.
