JW Marriott, Quito Ecuador
The JW Marriott Quito has the most well-trained staff I have ever come across. They seem to like their jobs and they take them seriously. The hotel is grand and elaborate when you enter the lobby. A lady was serving complimentary blackberry gelato when we entered which was a nice touch. Check-in went well except that they did not honor our upgrade and give us a balcony. When we arrived at our first room our porter called down to let them know and they called me and they offered me the terrace instead and a larger room which we took. Dax's bag was ripped so the porter grabbed it and went out and had it sewn properly. This guy was good.
The bed was comfortable and the headboard had built-in night light strips that softly illuminated the room all night. The bathroom had a nice soaking tub. The bathroom is a bit dated but not too bad.
Soaking tub which filled up very quickly with instant hot water. |
The terrace was large and I spent quite a bit of time out on it.
Great views of Quito surrounded us from our Terrace Room. |
The TV was a good size but only offered 2 English channels that I could find out of roughly 150.
We had complimentary lounge access and free buffet breakfasts. The food was good and the appetizers were interesting. The white wine choice was not a good one and the coffee in Ecuador does not smell like coffee or taste like coffee that we like to drink. I am not sure if the roast is completely different but the taste is not good.
Security is everywhere at this JW Marriott and they pass on security tips to you in a tiny pamphlet that states if someone sprays mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise on you, do not let them offer to clean you up because they will rob you.
Overall the stay was good and the views were nice. I would recommend this hotel.
