SpringHill Suites Los Angeles International Airport Manhattan Beach

SpringHill Suites is like the No-frills airline Value Jet.

The free breakfast was totally one of the worst I have ever encountered at a free breakfast hotel.   The scrambled eggs were so rubbery that they literally could have bounced back to Canada on their own. I was looking forward to the fresh make-your-own waffle but today it was strawberry waffles, which is a desecration of waffles. Needless to say I had to try it and it was as bad as I thought it would be.  The orange juice was so bitter that I had to mix some apple juice into it just to make it palatable.  The fruit salad had a ton of sugar in it and it was almost too sugary to eat. The American-style yogurt is even sweeter than the Canadian yogurt and I only could handle a mouthful.  However, the coffee was very good and had different vanilla and hazelnut cream sweeteners.

This hotel had Netflix that you could hook into which was a bonus but most Marriott-affiliated hotels have this now.  The internet here was very quick and not a problem at all.

This was supposed to be a studio suite but it was the most ill-equipped studio suite we've ever stayed in. It only had a microwave and a bar fridge and a sink and that was it.  The room was incredibly tiny and the bed sunk to the letter v when I sat on it.  I can't be blamed because I've actually lost weight.

I am a gold Marriott member and usually always get an upgrade when I ask for one but at this hotel, they were not able to provide that.

We were unfortunately placed in a connecting room so there was a door between us and the next room and I felt like I was eavesdropping on every conversation they had because I could hear everything that they said without even trying, which means that they could hear us as well.  We had to make some important phone calls dealing with credit cards etc and we had to hide in the bathroom so that it would be muffled enough to be confidential.

There was tons of available parking but we were still charged 20 USD per night.

Personally, I would never book a SpringHill suite again, there was not that much to like.
