Desert Oasis Resort- Hyatt Vacation Club, Cathedral City, California
Desert Oasis Resort is a small spread-out resort with a couple of pools for the hot sun. The buildings are two stories, without elevators. It backs onto a golf course and has mountain views which are stunning in the morning, noon and dusk. I phoned two days before check-in to let them know that we would be arriving a day late due to our cross-over of the two timeshares and I took this opportunity to ask for a second-floor unit and a view. I actually got it which was very nice. Looking at parking lots off of your balcony is not that relaxing. This was our view below.
Their weekly activities schedule is very heavy on the craft-making side of things. If you're into crafts, that's fine but if you're more on the sporty side, or want blackjack or poker, those things do not exist on this activity schedule, like they normally would on the recreation side of timeshare activities.
Roses were blooming here in December and they were gorgeous and smelled beautiful. This is incomprehensible for a Saskatchewanite.
We had a one-bedroom at this resort with a huge living room and an extremely well-equipped kitchen that even had a spatula, which is extremely uncommon for timeshares. The kitchen cabinets and drawers were soft-closing and you don't see that often in timeshares. The kitchen was equipped with Fiesta dishes in a cheerful celery green colour. Surprisingly, this is the first time that I have ever seen a timeshare kitchen with both red and white wine glasses. Amazing little things like this I very much appreciate and was pleasantly surprised by. I am not that often surprised by timeshares, as I have been to sooooo many of them. Anyways the Sommelier side of me loved the two different wine glasses.

I love to critique all of the different timeshare units that we stay in and although this unit was recently refurbished with new carpet, flooring, stainless steel appliances and a fridge with an ice maker, the arrangement of the unit could have been better. The washing machine/dryer unit could have been pushed back to make the kitchen bigger. Plus there was a completely unnecessary hall closet, which should be removed to make the bathroom more spacious when they next renovate. There was a ridiculously large walk-in closet, and I would have used that space to make a much larger bathroom. Two people could have slept in our closet. Maybe I should have rented it out?
Overall though we enjoyed our stay here and soaking in the hot tub after a long canyon hike.
The most remarkable thing about this resort is that the address is
34567 Cathedral Canyon Drive, Cathedral City, For reals.
