Miracle Springs Desert Mineral Spas, California
After an afternoon of hiking 8 km on top of San Jacinto Mountain, we decided to go to Desert Hot Springs, which is a city northwest of Palm Springs. There are tons of hotels here to take in the waters and relax. We chose Miracle Hot Springs Spa. This place offered a day pass that was $20 US per adult and you had to bring your own towel and take care of your own belongings because locks were not supplied for this price. We had access to lockers but no lock available. Here it almost felt like day passers were not really desired, even though there was hardly anyone in the pools.
There is one large pool that's the coolest pool and we soaked for probably a total of an hour in that pool. Then we went to four other pools of varying different temperatures and most likely different mineral compositions.
The place is kind of run down and probably not worth $20. Once again they don't really seem to want to attract day trippers as it was difficult to find the information online. I had to phone them to get more information. They should advertise and make some money and spruce up their pools and it would be quite popular with day pass people wanting to soak after a hike. There were only two bathrooms in the ladies, locker rooms and two showers. There would need to be an expansion of this area to be more welcoming. Watrous, Saskatchewan is set up much better than this place.
It remains to be seen how good of quality the Desert Hot Springs water is? The next day it did not feel like our legs had soaked for almost 2 hours in therapeutic waters. The best composition of minerals to help aching joints and arthritis etc, that I've ever found is still in Watrous, Saskatchewan.
Desert Springs area takes about 15 minutes to drive from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
