Marriott Surfwatch, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

The Marriott surf watch is a beautiful property with a large pond in the middle of it.

The activity schedule is one of the most expansive I have ever seen with super interesting things that I actually want to get involved with.  There is a Low Country Boil on Thursday nights that you pay 12 dollars for.  There are lots of alcohol-infused activities for adults that I may be tempted into etc.   Darren will most likely play Blackjack.
Marriott Surfwatch is located right on the beach and it has a lovely large wide boardwalk out to the beach.

It has a really good outdoor restaurant that has happy hour from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
There are two pools with lots of seating areas.   One pool is closer to the beach and one is tucked back into the buildings.
Our unit had just been renovated just like all of the Marriotts on the Island.   The kitchen has granite countertops and limited storage but they did make up for it by putting in four shelves in the furnace room and the door is right in the kitchen area.  Marriott cheaped out a little bit with the cabinets and did not replace them they repainted them which is fine.  The new appliances were nice to have and the freezer had an ice maker.

The primary bedroom was large with access to the balcony.

The primary bathroom was really quite nice with a barn door that slides closed for privacy.  The shower is to this date the biggest shower I have ever seen with four different heads.

However, Marriott Vacation Clubs and a lot of other timeshares and hotels are going the way of splashy showers and ripping out the tubs and replacing them with these showstopper showers.  This particular shower could have been fully glassed in and made into a Steam Shower (now we are talking).  For my family, this practice is not appreciated because we all like to have tubs and soak after a long day in the sun or after biking etc and if I want to do this I have to go to the other bathroom where the tub is.  (first world problems are exhausting)  If they're doing this for water conservation great, that's a good thing if they're doing it because of design well design changes and then people are going to want their tubs back.
The living room and dining room were a nice size and so was the balcony.  We managed to get a nice view of the pond and from our third-floor unit, you could watch the turtles, fish and birds etc.  The noseeums managed to wreck a bit of my fun though.

The spare bedrooms are very large and all have their own bathroom.
This particular unit is a three-bedroom three bathroom unit so we have a lot of space but I do have a family member joining us for this week.
There is also a laundry room where you have room for more storage and recycling.

The grounds are very pretty with a lot of different foliage and their own ducks that hang around the pond.

On the large boardwalk to the beach, there are little placards of information along the way and it is a long lovely walk to the beach over the salt marsh.

We had heard about a less expensive and not fancy local seafood hangout called the Sea Shack.  If you like large portions of food and fresh seafood, go to the Sea Shack.  We had to wait in line for about 30 minutes but it was worth it.  It is about a 10-minute drive from the Marriott Surfwatch.

We will return to this resort because it is large and right on the beach.  Beach access is nice to have especially if you have rented bikes.  You can bike right on the beach, it is very hard-packed sand.
