Sheraton Suites, Fort Lauderdale at Cypress Creek
This particular Sheraton is not up to Sheraton standards.
Although the room was partially renovated it still needed a ton of work.
The bathroom had a new shower and countertop etc but the wallpaper was already starting to peel in the bathroom.
The hotel is as old as dirt. The hallway carpeting is lifting all along the hallway. It is one of those old-style hotels where every door opens up to the inside courtyard area and the hotel is 8 floors high so it ends up being extremely noisy in your room. Everyone has windows that face into this courtyard area and the drapes are always getting caught in the door and don't necessarily cover the window properly. The door itself was thin and let in a lot of noise.
The painted railing is the old 1970s wrought iron in the hotel.
We were in a one-bedroom suite and although that was nice to have because you have two different areas, one for sleeping and one for sitting in. There was a big stain on the carpet in the middle of the sitting area. The fake granite countertop on the table in the sitting room was so scuffed up and roughed up that it should have been taken to the dump. The walls were chipped up and broken the doors were beaten in. It looked like about 10 Frat Parties had been hosted recently in the room.
We had a Juliet balcony and the sliding glass door windows were actually loose. One of the windows could be pressed against and it bent outwards and the seal was non-existent on it so there was Zero soundproofing on this particular window. In fact, it was kind of dangerous because I could have pushed it in and broken it very easily.
The chair in the bedroom looked like it had been sliced open by a knife.
We went to go and find ice and some of the hallway areas were so dark that I would not go down them by myself and I'm not a scaredy cat.
With all that being said and that was enough negatives for me. It was a decently comfortable bed. The TVs were nice and large and in working order.
We did go for a meal downstairs and it was really good. The waiter was a lovely gentleman from Guatemala. We had some really good discussions with him and he was super sweet.
We stayed at the Sheraton Hotel only one night right before we took a cruise and it is approximately 15 minutes from the airport where we had to drop off our rental car.
I got this hotel on points and I feel that 21,000 points were too many points. If I would have been paying cash for this hotel I would have wanted my money back.
Parking was $5 which does not sound like a lot for an overnight stay but once again it's a post covid money grab where they're trying to make back money. They did not need to charge for parking.
Overall unless some major work was done to this hotel I would not be staying here again.
