Delta Hotels by Marriott Tudor Park Country Club - Bearsted, Maidstone, United Kingdom

 This hotel was extremely hard to find on our GPS.  No form of the hotel would come up so we ended up putting in Bearsted into our GPS as the city and Ashford Road as the address.  Miraculously we saw the Marriott sign after coming off of the highway and turned in and it was the correct hotel.  This has never happened to us before so that was bizarre.  We arrived in the dark from Gatwick Airport in London, which made it even harder to find.

The hotel is quite nice and laid out around an inner courtyard.  We had a good chuckle at the entrance to our door because the door handle was very low.  I would guess that this is a refurbished hotel by the size of their minuscule elevator.  Upon entering our room we were pleased to see a pretty good-sized room.  We had booked a king-terrace room.  The terrace was nice but most of the day it was raining which is par for the course in England.  The bed was very comfortable and the decor was pleasing.  I had a desk to work at and there was a large TV which we did not have time to use.

The staff were quite accommodating towards us and one young lady searched for hours to find two extension cords for our CPAPs which we very much appreciated.
We had a lovely supper in the restaurant that night, it was tasty.  In the morning we had a complimentary buffet breakfast due to my Platinum Marriott membership.

We are on our way to Leeds Castle which is a convenient 4-minute drive away.  I would highly recommend this hotel for the food, accommodation and service.

Ixtapa Island- Ixtapa, Mexico

This is Coral Beach on Ixtapa Island The kids wanted to go to Ixtapa Island because this is where the best snorkeling is located in the Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo areas.  When we first started asking around and getting price quotes for this, we were getting prices anywhere from 90 - 110 American per person for a day trip to Ixtapa Island.  Anyone who knows us know that we hate organized tours because you get herded around like cattle, you don't get to make your own decisions and 90% of the time they are a rip-off for something that you can organize yourself.   Once the kids found out how expensive it was they began to research this trip and they realized that it's quite achievable to do without a tour or a tour guide for a fraction of the cost. Climbing Mt. Solmar with The Dogs, Los Cabos, Mexico

We heard about this climb from Darren's niece who had done the exact climb last week.  Whenever you do a search on hikes in the Los Cabos area, this Mount Solmar hike does not come up.  I would highly recommend it though because it was a great deal of fun and it was challenging.  I went with 3 friends and to top it all off there was a bunch of dogs walking with us up the mountain.   Enrique runs a Dog Training Center.  He started this hike with dogs to train them most likely. And now people join him for free and climb up Mount Solmar with the dogs. The dogs love it and they are barking and in a bit of a frenzy before you go.  You take an Uber or drive your car to the dog training center and you wait in line at 8:00 a.m. this hike accompanied by dogs is available every morning except Saturday.   Kent, Joelle, Craig and I in the line-up to get into see the dogs and start the climb.
