Aphrodite Hills Holiday Villas, Kouklia, Cyprus
We have stayed in the Aphrodite Hills Holiday Rentals before in 2010 and we loved it and wanted to return. Last time we had a fairly new and modern 2 bedroom Villa with our own private pool and a rooftop terrace with a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea. I watched the sun go down every night with a glass of dry white Cypriot wine. I was in heaven.
This time around we were in a 3-bedroom /2-bathroom Villa without a roof terrace but we had a pool. It was not the same. This unit was a bit tired but fully functional for us. I was spoiled on the last villa.
The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage in the bedroom and kitchen. There was ample seating outside with lounge chairs and a dining set. The Villa came equipped with some cats which we loved and fed with some cat kibble and milk. The cats quickly adopted us and we loved one that was like a little dog who followed us everywhere that we went in and around the resort. She was special and I will miss her.
This kitty was usually at the patio window waiting for some milk each morning. She was quite sweet too.
Aphrodite Beach is a nice hike away from the Villas. It is a long walk down to the Med and a longer walk back up to the Villa but it is great exercise. The beach is worth a visit because it is covered in round flat rocks perfect for building Mediterranean Inukshuks.
The villa has a washing machine and a drying rack to dry your clothes outside. The kitchen was well-stocked and you could cook whatever you wished but we only ate breakfasts in the villa. We were out and about exploring archeological sites and usually only ate one more meal a day at a Cypriot restaurant to eat the delicious Grilled Halloumi cheese and Greek Salads.
The resort is perfectly situated in Cyprus. It is high up on the mountain with beautiful views of the Med and close to so many UNESCO World Heritage Sites that we tried to take in as many as we could.
The grounds are stupendous with bougainvillea everywhere, native trees and rosemary hedges.
Check-in and Check-out were quick. There is a little grocery store on site but it is very pricey so we shopped in Pissouri which is a ten-minute drive away.
We love Cyprus and will return to Aphrodite Hills for the third time. Cyprus is amazing and I am not quite sure why it is so undiscovered for North Americans. Maybe let's keep it a secret.
