Regency Villas, Broome Park, & Denton, Kent England

This timeshare is extremely hard to find. Our GPS once again could not find this European timeshare. This is most likely because there is no actual address for Broome Park Estate.  We had to stop at a gas station and ask them where it was, it was dark outside and this did not help. GPS got us close to where we needed to be. The nice lady at the gas station told us that Broome Park was just 2-3 minutes straight down the street. We were happy to see the large elaborate gates of Broome Park on our right.
We checked in with no problem with the instructions from this resort that check-in time is only between the hours of 4-8 pm.

To the left is Broome Park Manor.  Lord Kitchener sold his house in 1928 and it was broken up and made into a Country Club.  The Manor House was built in 1635 and it took 3 years to build.  It is a beautiful old house and a short walk from Regency Villas.  I researched more history of Broome Park and found this little gem.  " Europe was plunged into World War II. The Ministry of Defence requisitioned the house and estate for military purposes and several Scottish regiments were billeted here. Later the Fusiliers Mont Royal a Canadian Tank Regiment mustered at Broome and was responsible for the concrete roads that abound. German propaganda broadcaster Lord Haw Haw identified the house as a military base and it was subsequently the target of enemy gunfire on several occasions. Fortunately, no direct hits were ever scored."  As a Canadian citizen, I thought that was fascinating information, no wonder I feel so at home here at Regency Villas which was built in the walled (formal gardens) of Broome Park.

Here is a beautiful side door at Broome Park.

We were shocked once we heard that there was no WiFi at Regency Villas. The last time we had this issue to deal with was on our World Tour 13 years ago.  We need to stay in touch with our son back home, so we need WiFi.   Plus,  I am currently on a 337-day streak of learning my Spanish on Duolingo and I am not about to give that up due to a backwater timeshare that does not have WiFi.  Once my head stopped imploding, I was ready to hear her next statement which was that we could go to Broome Park Manor House and get WiFi there.  So every day we parked our car outside the manor house and used their WiFi, not what I wanted to do while on vacation.
Upon entering our 2 bed/2 bath unit we were surprised to see how large it was.  It was decorated in a Spartan manner but had comfortable furniture and a nice hard mattress.  The bathrooms and Kitchen were reminiscent of Scotland with the tiny bar fridge and pull-string lights in the bathrooms.  For North American information:  there is a switch that has to be turned on for every electrical outlet in the unit including the heat if you want anything to work.
Regency Villas is in a brick-walled area.  All units face an interior grassy treed interior.
The kitchen is well-kitted out. The TV has many channels.

We are a short drive to Canterbury, the White Cliffs of Dover and many castles. This is why I chose to grab this timeshare from Interval International.

The Grounds of Regency Villas

The adorable door to our unit number 18.  All of the metal on the door is genuine brass and quite cute.

There are many little villages within walking distance,  we walked to Denton and did the large loop up which took about 2 hours.  There is much history in Denton much like all of England.

Some of the locals to the right.

Beautiful old historic home under restoration.

The homes here are right on the road.

Front view of Broome Park.

Chestnut trees are everywhere and this is the fruit of a tree and its nuts.  Europeans eat these things, I have never tried them because they have to be roasted etc to be edible.

Tudor-style houses are everywhere and they are very historic.  This one is in Denton and is over 500 years old.  If you look at this house from the side there is an obvious slant to the house but from this angle, you can not even tell that it is ancient.

Doorways are so short in these ancient buildings.  I would have been an Amazon Freak 500 years ago.

Regency Villas of Broome Park Estate is a nice place to stay it only needs WiFi and they need to start a recycling program to get into the 21st century.  I was appalled when she said that I should just throw all of the plastics, paper, pop cans, etc. into the rubbish.
