We visited the lovely little village of Valldemosa which is hidden in the Tramuntana Mountains. The views did not disappoint.

There are vineyards and Olive groves and Oranges growing in abundance in Valldemosa. |
Valldemosa is blessed with a UNESCO World Heritage site which is the Monastery, but it was closed until February, therefore, we were not able to view the inside of it. It is the Carthusian Monastery where Chopin lived and composed his music in 1838-1839. Chopin was hoping for renewed health with the Mediterranean air and lifestyle. In the year 1399, there were no more Mallorcan Kings so it was given to the monks and over 600 years later it is now a UNESCO site.

Chopin in the old Palace Gardens. |

This is the backside of the Palace. It is a large property that you can visit in high season. |
Valldemosa is a village of medieval origins and is known for its fertile soil and its picturesque charm.
Valldemosa is in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains which are also a UNESCO-awarded mountain range in the Cultural Landscaped category. They are very pretty and at times quite peculiar-looking.
Valldemosa has many cafes and we chose a nice quiet one without any cars. I ordered a Spanish White. Darren ordered a 'Speeza' which is a sparkling Orange drink with a hint of Ginger and half Coke. It was actually refreshing. Darren did not like it because his blessed Coke was desecrated.

It was such a pretty little picturesque cafe. |
|
Such charming little streets. |
|
I thought I had found Grumpy Cat. |
|
This was a quaint doorway to a side street. Ancient timbers formed the roof. |
|
This was super cool. The rock slabs sticking out of the side of the building were used as steps to get up to the outdoor roof terrace. You can see the railing that they also fashioned. |

Darren, in a very bright and colourful Art Gallery. |

This was the front of the old Palace.

This was a ridiculously small front door. |
Honestly, you can walk around Valldemosa for hours and not get tired of the beauty around every corner. You will be exhausted though, due to the inclines.
We continued driving along the coast to Deia which is a village that hugs the sides of the mountains high up overlooking the beautiful blue of the Mediterranean Sea. There were many photos to take and then we moved on along the coast to Soller and then home. |
Picture-perfect. |
|
I could have taken photos for much longer but Darren wanted to get home. The drive home was a scary drive full of ridiculously high cliffs with a tiny 18-inch stone curb between your car and your death. Locals drive like maniacs on the road which does not make it very safe. It was still worth seeing and it would have been nice to stop for a drink to soak up the scenery of Deia. |
