Wyndham Residences, San Diego Suites, Mijas Costa, Costa del Sol, Spain

The Wyndham Resort is massive and tough to walk around because it is hilly.  It is a great home base to explore countless mountain villages, Malaga, Marbella, Granada, Cordoba, Gibraltar, Ronda and Seville.

There are countless mountain villages to visit.  This pic is taken from Frigiliana, just 30 minutes away by car.

The room was comfortable but will need a renovation soon because the decor is a bit out of date.  That being said the kitchen was fairly well equipped but only had one tiny frustrating silicon ice tray.  It had a bar-sized fridge and the same-sized freezer which is not needed.  The microwave seemed a bit ancient.

We had amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea and we could watch the stunning sunrise and sunset every day.  We also witnessed the fog roll in one afternoon which was cool to watch.

There was a washing machine that did not have instructions and was very difficult to figure out.  There was a drying rack out on the balcony which was handy to have.

The bed was hard and comfortable just like I like it.  The bathroom had a bathtub which is appreciated.  The sink needs some counter space though.

The grounds here are exemplary and beautiful with fountains waterfalls and flowers and trees.

Orange Trees are everywhere.

The local wild boar roams mostly at night.  They don't seem to have tusks but this discouraged us from walking at night.  We did see a whole troupe of them walk across a main road in Fuengirola and the locals just wait to let them cross.  A group of wild boars are made up of adult females and their young and are called Sounders.

There are wild Parakeets everywhere which are quite pretty but loud and add to noise pollution.  They are not native to the area.

The wild boar are not so pretty and they usually hang out in multiples unless they are an adult male.

We did walk to Fuengirola which took about 15 minutes and there is a lot to do there.  The Gelato and Tapas restaurants are plenty and Fuengirola has a very large mall.

There is a tunnel under the highway and a walkway over the highway to get to the beach.

The Med is very clear and pretty on the Costa del Sol.

Visit the Sohail Castle which is right on the seaside, you can't miss it.  It is free to get in and is worth seeing and the views are nice from the towers.

We will definitely return to this resort in the future.  It is well-managed and a great location for numerous day trips.

The surrounding countryside is quite beautiful with Olive groves, and papaya, mango and avocado trees.

The Costa del Sol area is very built up with houses, towns, cities and resorts built into the hills.
