Dazzler by Wyndham, Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Nestled in the heart of Recoleta, the Dazzler Hotel offers a captivating stay in Buenos Aires, surrounded by an array of attractions. A standout feature is its proximity to the renowned Recoleta Cemetery, a must-visit where the iconic Eva Peron rests.  Unfortunately, there are many homeless camped outside of the hotel, but you are most likely going to find this at most of the hotels in the city now.  Things have changed in Buenos Aires since the last time we visited in 2011 and not for the good.

Indulge in the local charm just across the street at Rock and Beer, a welcoming but sketchy-looking haven for affordable wine and beer.  Sketchy but safe, the staff made us feel like locals. Loco Futbol, conveniently located on the same block as the hotel, provides a delightful experience. I personally relished a satisfying salad paired with the sparkling Eco, my preferred mineral water.  Close by is an amazing little Gelato shop called Kiosco de Helados, kitty corner to the Dazzler.
Our room, adorned with a generous window and a petite balcony overlooking the pool and the cemetery, defied the conventional perception of a cemetery view. While the room was spacious, its decor leaned towards spartan simplicity. A thoughtful reconfiguration could transform it into a haven of comfort with space for a cozy sitting area.
The snug bathroom dimensions were a minor setback in an otherwise solid stay. The bathtub, though narrow, won my favour for its quick water fill, while the well-designed shower head added a touch of luxury. The inclusion of a bidet caters to diverse preferences, but for me, it is a waste of space.
Individual air conditioning units in each room granted absolute control over the ambient temperature, a welcome touch. Yet, the elevators and hallways, unfortunately, lacked this cool respite, presenting a minor inconvenience of claustrophobic stuffiness.
Despite a reasonable $38 USD taxi fare from EZE airport, our check-in experience had a momentary hitch. However, the efficient intervention of the manager swiftly resolved the matter, showcasing the staff's commitment to guest satisfaction.

While Hotwire.com classifies the Dazzler as a 5-star retreat, a more accurate assessment leans towards a commendable 3-star rating. The room, though capacious, yearned for a touch of warmth, and the scarcity of electrical outlets posed a challenge for our CPAP devices. Illumination, especially in the evening, left room for improvement.

A highlight emerged at breakfast, surpassing expectations. The expansive seating arrangement and well-curated sections, brimming with options like muesli, fresh fruits, and pastries, left me feeling satisfied. A minor setback was encountered with the watery consistency of the scrambled eggs.

In conclusion, the Dazzler Hotel, with its cleanliness and strategic location, stands as a commendable choice for those seeking a memorable stay in Recoleta. Embrace the ambiance, and you'll find a solid 3-star retreat that effortlessly marries convenience with comfort.
