Todos Santos and Playa Los Cerritos, Mexico

This is a Thought Tree and you can write down a thought and attach it to the tree.  I thought that was a pretty cute idea.

Todos Santos is a quaint little artsy-fartsy town in Mexico on the Baja Peninsula.  It claims to have the Hotel California but the Eagles have disclaimed this notion.  Regardless it has an old beautiful church and many great little shops and restaurants and markets.

We had been before but Garth and Sandra understandingly wanted to check it out.  The Birthday Boy Garth wanted to go so we drove north to Todos Santos and really it was nice to go again and see all of the new markets and places.  Todos Santos is only 15 minutes away from Playa Los Cerritos.  The church is always nice to enter into its interior and give some prayers for family members who need them.  Once entering the church it was at least 15 degrees cooler than in the hot sun outside.
Colorful cute houses are all around.

A section of Hotel California.

A cool and interesting outdoor Palapa Bar.

Beautiful Sculptures for sale on Church grounds.  These are all junk pieces of steel welded together Art.

This one was nuts and bolts welded together.

We explored the cute little markets and I would have loved to have purchased a few things but once again how do I get it back home?

Neat little flea market for bartering.

Fancy shops as well are in Todos Santos.

More markets.

The flip side of the sculpture.

Hotel California is quite underwhelming.  Maybe it wouldn't be if you are an Eagles fan?

We continued on and drove to Playa Los Cerrritos beach.  The unpaved roads off of the highway are awful washboard type gravel roads.  I do not understand why they have not been improved upon since development in this area has exploded.

We were all hungry and we tried to find Barracuda Cantina and I gasped a little because it was no longer in the place that we had found it.  There was new construction happening on the exact site.  We have continued to come back to this restaurant every time we come to Los Cabos area.  Thank goodness there was a sign pointing down the road to the beach and so we headed down there with our car and parked and walked a bit and found it.

We sat down and I already knew what I wanted. Baja style Shrimp Tacos and a Passion Fruit Margarita.  The old setting for Barracuda Cantina was super quaint because they had these Passion Fruit Vines growing throughout the ceiling and roof area that basically encapsulated the restaurant.

Hopefully they begin to grow the vines again at the brand new site.  The Margaritas and Tacos were as good as I remember them though.
Sculpted from the base of a Palm Tree.

Barracuda Cantina is an outdoor sand-floor restaurant which is super cool.

We found a friend, he was a mix between a Dalmatian and Pit Bull, I think. He was super friendly and fell asleep on my feet originally and then moved over to Sandra's feet.

We finished up and headed down to the beach which is glorious, long and wide and always silvery in color.

Unfortunately Playa Los Ceritos is being built up with apartments and housing complexes.  When we first discovered this place over 10 years ago none of the above was here.  There was one hotel on the point that has been in constant battle with the Mexican Government and has never housed people in in since I have seen it

The hotel on the point.

There were odd little squatter houses too and Barracuda Cantina about 10 years ago.  It was glorious and uninhabited and pure.  Every year that we come back it is a little more built up and exploited.

Apparently all good things must come to an end.
