Element Bali Ubud by Westin- Ubud, Bali Indonesia

This is a nice hotel about a 10-minute drive from Ubud Center, depending on the hideous traffic, it could take longer.  They gave us a nice room on the top floor with a pool view, but unfortunately I did not get the complimentary upgrade as a Titanium Elite Member.  They said that the hotel was full but it clearly was not full and they should have honored my upgrade.

The room was nice and a good size with a decent sized bathroom and balcony.

The bed was a Westin Bed supposedly but I would question that as it was too soft and very different support from a Westin Bed.

The bathroom had a glass window instead of a wall apparently to take in more light.

They had a complimentary shuttle service to Monkey Forest and Ubud Center but it was in an open air van.  There is a lot of exhaust from hundreds vehicles and scooters on the road so we did not take the shuttle back.  Ubud has a serious traffic problem. We have never encountered traffic like this and we have traveled to 81+ countries.  14 years ago when we last visited there was no traffic to speak of really.

The traffic in Ubud is constant and relentless.

We ate dinner in the Andong Teras Restaurant the first night and we all had Nasi Goreng, the traditional Indonesian dish.  It was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten.

I thought that it was a nice touch with actual Rice growing in the vase.

With my Titanium Elite membership with Marriott I get complimentary breakfast and because they could not provide an upgrade to me, they gave Sandra and Garth who we were traveling with also free breakfast.  The buffet breakfast was tremendous. There was so much food to choose from.  They had made to order omelets which were nice as well.  The fruit was out of this world, fresh and delicious and the freshly squeezed juices were amazing.

Snake Fruit after it was peeled.

The rooms were very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful and I would recommend this hotel except for the simple fact that there is a lot of garbage being burned next door to the hotel.  This constant smoke gives off toxic fumes that can leak into the hotel rooms even though we put a towel under the door because there is zero weather stripping in hot countries.   The government has to get on this third world situation and begin to deal with the waste management in this country.
We stayed here on points and it was 10,000 points a night which was an excellent price to pay.
The lobby was an interesting open air design.
Starbucks Station if you wanted to buy your own coffee but the coffee at the Buffet was excellent and they would provide any type of coffee you desired.

Interesting basket design over a seating area in the lobby.

The pools were nice.  We went in them one night but 2 out of the 3 of us that went in reacted to whatever chemicals they use.  Our eyes were burning and red that night and the next day.  We did not go in again.

Surrounding area is quite built up and busy.

Even though the rooms were nice and the food was great and the staff were friendly and very helpful, I would most likely try another area of Ubud to try and escape the burning garbage fumes.  This is not the fault of the hotel but it was not good for my Asthma.
