Mount Wellington, Tasmania Australia

Hobart Tasmania down below.

It would have been an exhilarating drive up to Mount Wellington which overlooks Hobart and area of Tasmania which is the capital city.  But I don't like heights. For me it was a terrifying ride.  Imagine a single lane highway with no shoulders really to speak of and traffic coming your way where there's tons of curves and hairpin turns and looking straight down Mount Wellington.  Mount Wellington is 4,170 feet tall and utterly spectacular!!
We stopped at over half way up the mountain.

There was a pretty little natural spring waterfall leaking out of the side of the mountain with some Electric Green colored moss.

After looking around for a bit it was time for us to leave once I saw this which was a site of a past landslide.

It was an 11 km road uphill. This scary treacherous road was made even more uncomfortable because you're on the wrong side of the road and Aussies drive fast on on narrow roads.
There were even crazy people biking up this treacherous road. Undoubtedly the views are incredible if you're good with heights.  These were extreme heights and to this date the scariest road that I have ever been on for me. In places a simple guard rail would not have stopped you from certain death.
When we finally got to the top, it was incredible. The views were stunning and undoubtedly for me the best views of my entire life.

Unusual shaped boulders were everywhere.

There were three lookouts to venture upon because it is quite a big flat area up at the top except for these awesome big boulders that poke out of the earth and they're scattered everywhere.
Who knew that Charles Darwin was here and walked on these very same rocks as me. I didn't know he explored up here.  It makes sense though as Charles Darwin was into isolated species and you can't get more isolated than Tasmania except maybe Galapagos Islands.

We met a very nice Aussie that moved from the mainland to Tasmania and struck up a conversation about the similarities and differences between Australia and Canada and they're actually way more similarities. We both have upcoming elections and so we also talked about that.
We were probably up on top of Mount Wellington for probably a total of 2 hours taking in the views and you just can't get enough of them with the islands and oceans, city and trees and rocks and sky and the colors of the ocean and sky. It is reported that you can actually see for 150 km at this point of Mount Wellington.

A weird mountain of strange rock formations.

I didn't want to leave and I didn't want to leave for two reasons. One we had to drive back down that scary road and the other one was because I could not get enough of the crisp fresh air up there and again the sensational views.
The air at the top of Mount Wellington was crisp and clean and smelled amazing. Mount Wellington is made up of Eucalyptus Forest so maybe that gives it a different smell, not sure.

At one of the lookouts we spotted a Mommy Wallaby with her baby.  We climbed down the boulders and I had some moments in her presence. Her baby was munching on something and rarely put his head up but she was just standing there watching me and just keeping guard of her baby like a good mom should.
This was the first Wallaby that we have seen in the wild.  They are much smaller and have much prettier faces I think.

This was the baby Wallaby who finally pulled his face up from chowing down on a plant.

There was a glass lookout promontory built out on the rock and it had incredible views as well. But the film on the windows had warped so it had a distorted view so I didn't stay in there long.

Taken inside the Glass Lookout.

Long walkout trail to one of the lookouts.

The same lookout with 3 different viewing levels.

There were very nice clean bathrooms with running water and that was nice because we were up there for quite a while.
This is unmistakably a place to visit if you ever get down to this part of the world.

This picture is funny because if you look in the middle of the photo the Wallaby Mom is there just chillin.  How did she even get up this high?  Maybe she liked the views too?

You can see forever.

A little British Boy climbed up to the top of the boulders.

They were just awe-inspiring views.

We climbed down these rocks to see the Wallabies.
