Grand Universe Lucca Autograph Collection, Lucca Italy

We arrived to the Lucca Autograph Collection Hotel late after taking the train from Naples and it looked like from the outside a very nice old Italian Palazzo.  We were greeted by two very welcoming employees and when asked for extra water he gave us arm loads which was appreciated after a parched train ride.  They upgraded us to a Junior suite, which was quite a nice size with its own living room with two chairs and couch, a large TV and coffee area with plenty of space for a European hotel.  We had three large windows with absolutely stunning floor to ceiling curtains that accentuated the beamed ceilings.  It was a bit of a funky style with burgundy velvet headboard and matching couch, chairs and stools.

The bathroom was very unique to my eye. Not only did it have a bathtub which was so nice to see because not too many European rooms have them and an absolutely large shower. Only one sink which I can handle and it had the telephone in the bathroom which is a true sign of a five-star hotel.  All of the fixtures were extremely unique with Chrome and marble and the sink tub, bidet and toilet were all a unique,  green composite material that I've never seen before.  The tub was very comfortable. I jumped right in and they had complimentary bath salts which I always appreciate.  The bathroom also had the heated towel racks which it took me a minute to be able to turn off, but there was this ancient window in the bathroom so I was able to cool it off quite quickly. Again, this is in an old palace so it is an ancient building that has been refurbished into a hotel.

There was an ice machine on the third floor which is always a treasure. Ice is hard to come by here on this continent and the style was very nice. I loved the design of this room.
There was a bar down stairs which we got in so late, I didn't even think to get a drink in it. We did go to a restaurant just down the street and had a a quick wood burning pizza and it was delicious. I had a glass of wine that was awesome and we packed it in for the night.
In the morning there was a Krups Coffee Maker and complementary Buffet breakfast downstairs for Elite members. That was one of the gifts that was offered, served from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m..
I was really impressed with this hotel and I'm kind of sad that I didn't book it for two nights versus one.  It had a great location and it was ultra comfortable.  I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in beautiful Lucca Italy.

The surrounding area around the hotel was gorgeous.

The Square in front of the hotel at night.

Picture taken out of the window of our room in the early morning with the clouds hanging in the hills.
