Delta Hotel Azores, Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel Island, Azores Islands, Portugal

Bucolic views of grazing bovine will greet you outside your floor to ceiling windows and large balcony.

The Delta is a fairly new hotel in Ponta Delgada the capital of the island.  It is only a 9 minute drive from the airport.

The staff were very well trained and helpful and welcoming.  Check in was swift and we had arrived hours early and they accommodated our early check in time.

The room was an interesting layout and large with space to move around.  They had made up the couch into a bed for my son in advance and left it that way.

There was a small table and two chairs which I used for working on my laptop.  What was most interesting about the technology was that there were two TVs that synced with each other so this enabled more space to sit on the bed or the couch.  The TVs were attached to a dividing wall and they were both very large.

When made up the bed is a couch.

The bedroom area was well equipped and comfortable.  There were comfy housecoats as well.

The coffee station was filled each day with Nespresso pods.

The outdoor balcony was large and we had bucolic views of cows grazing on the green pasture land.

The bathroom was large with white marble which made it seem even larger.  The shower head was not the best, it had sporadic flow and not enough pressure, I usually switched to the hand held shower head.  For a new hotel this should not have happened. The design of the shower was lacking and the water was always laying outside the shower after showering.  This was disappointing for a new 4 star hotel. The window provided some ocean views.

The room was well lit and had a master switch at the door which is very convenient.

Long hallway into our suite.  We were given a corner suite, 332.

We had dinner that night when we checked in and I had the fettuccine and prawns which was very good.  The rest of the family both had pizzas and they were bland and under-cooked.  The complimentary buffet breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful in the restaurant.

We used the sauna and steam room and the sauna was way too hot and the steam room was not even that warm, we had to leave because we were too cold after 5 minutes.  Both of these needed to be adjusted.

The island is beautiful, sleepy and green and views to die for.

Small town that we drove to to begin the most popular hike on the island, Sanguinho Trail.

A view from one of the many island viewpoints.

Lots of rainbows in January.

I would not hesitate to stay at Delta Hotel Azores again.
