Marriott Desert Springs I, Palm Desert, California
This was our first time staying in the Marriott Desert Springs I. We have stayed in the Marriott Desert Springs II before and enjoyed it and the I has a very interesting layout. The units are in a two-story buildings and we had the upstairs unit and there are no elevators.
When you enter you enter the vestibule area you can go into the one side which is a one bedroom or you can go into the other side which is the lock offer Studio. If you want to be very separated from your guests, the the lock-off unit would do the trick. The space in the entry in my opinion is a waste of space. It has a nice little table to put things down but I do not prefer the large entry space.
The kitchen unit has a large counter and chairs that pull up to the kitchen counter. The stools are a bit too close to the stairs for my tastes.
The living room is probably one of the biggest living rooms of any timeshare we've ever stayed in and the outdoor balcony is quite large as well. It has a table with four chairs and one lounge chair and the balcony extends past the one bedroom entry. It is a long balcony. However, it was looking out onto the golf course and road beyond. It wasn't the best unit that we received for views but still nice.
The kitchen had a large round table with very heavy chairs and you could barely move them. It took a while to get used to the two steps down into the sunken living room with the fireplace that we never turned on because it averaged 35° that week.
Staying up on the upper hallway and walking into the one bedroom unit it is large and the bathroom is very large and it has the two doors going into the bathroom, which is always appreciated.
There is a washing machine and dryer in the unit and there was a large walk in closet off the kitchen which was a further loss of valuable space and it was a waste.
We played pickle ball at the Desert Springs II. We went to the pool a couple times but once again it was just too hot to go to the pool.
My one complaint about this place is they need to control the Geese because the Geese do decide to poop on things and they do decide to take over the pool area. There is always poop around the pool area and so that's not cool. I think they need to figure something out there and fix that. Other than that that it would be my only complaint.
